Singeing Skull

Acrylic on Lexan, world’s toughest plastic window covering. St. Marx, my castle, just replaced half of their stained glass window coverings with Plexiglas. Unfortunately, Lexan while wonderful and tough (skateboard ramps are made of it), it yellows. Now St. Marx again sports sparkling stained glass pictograms for all of Milwaukee to learn gospel lessons. Meanwhile, I scavenged the Lexan, and it works great as a surface using the Jim Nut technique, painting in the reverse.

Abstract guys of a painting

Verso

Above the verso view of the panel shows the interior of the painting. This is the x-ray. This is the painting’s viscera.

This is a portrait of fictional character Singeing Skull, Submarine Captain. I made him up one day when my buddy complained about Ghost Rider driving a motor cycle, I attempted to explain that Ghost Rider was originally a cowboy so the move from horse to… “It’s just arbitrary!” He cried.

“What if it was a submarine?” I suggested. His immediate fit of laughter assured me that I had touched something powerful in the spiritus mndi. Or something ridiculous. That was 15 years ago. When we were fresh faces college grads. I immediately wow the following pages.

How has the idea aged?

I just finished drawing a final version.

Exponential Growth, funeral of Bob

Bob my nigh-mentor is dead. Everybody loved him. Let us now drink gin and tonics and laugh at funny antics in his honour!

Batman punches a guy into the air, in the distance The Skräuss reminds us that Bob's secret is the impossibility of interest in others.

My nigh-mentor died and left me bereft. Really it was his third death. The first was when Parkinson’s took him in its jaws and shook, the second was when his daughter dumped me. The third set him free of bodily breakdown.

Good ole Bob.
